Halogen-free flame retardants can be divided into inorganic and organic flame retardants. The flame retardant mechanism of the magnesium hydroxide flame retardant is the cold trap effect: when heated, the temperature reaches 300°C to decompose and absorb heat, which can reduce the flame temperature; the decomposition process releases water vapor, and the concentration of combustible gas and foreign gas is diluted to inhibit the continuation of combustion; The metal oxide layer generated by the dehydration process has a very high specific surface area, which can cover the surface of the material to play a role of isolation, and at the same time can absorb smoke and flammable hair, thereby preventing combustion.


The thermal decomposition temperature of magnesium hydroxide is 140℃higher than that of aluminum hydroxide, which can make the synthetic material added with magnesium hydroxide withstand higher processing temperature, and also help to improve the flame retardant efficiency. The fine particle diameter of magnesium hydroxide is relatively small for equipment wear, which is beneficial to prolong the service life of processing equipment.
