In industry, the aluminum hydroxide powder that is often used is nothing more than white powder if you look at it from the outside. But in the eyes of flame retardant manufacturers, they have their own merits, for example, there are differences in particle size between them, and powders of different particle sizes have different characteristics:
1. Aluminum hydroxide powder with a particle size of 1 micron has high brightness, low surface area, and is compatible with all coating systems.
Compared with other natural titanium dioxide synergists, it can maintain the high gloss and pure white color of the coating, making the formulation design more flexible.
2. Aluminum hydroxide powder with a particle size of 2-3.5 microns is used in some fields to reduce the brightness of various powder coatings.
3. Surface-modified aluminum hydroxide with a particle size of 7-9 microns is usually used as a flame retardant for elastomer roof coatings, so that the roof has excellent physical properties, waterproof, fast dispersion and flame retardant properties.
Surface modification turns the hydrophilic surface into a hydrophobic surface, which has good compatibility with roofing elastomers.
Although the raw materials for the production of aluminum hydroxide powder are similar, due to different production processes, The particle size of the obtained aluminum hydroxide and the surface properties of the powder are all different.
The properties of the produced coatings cannot be the same, it is impossible to solve the problems with a kind of aluminum hydroxide powder.
